Hannah Wicklund's Newest Single 'Witness' Surprises Me

South Carolina native, Hannah Wicklund recently dropped her newest single Witness, produced by Greta Van Fleet bassist and boyfriend, Sam Kiszka. This song will be on her new album The Prize which is to be released on January 12th, 2024. It is full of soul, rock, and piano all at the same time. I hadn't gotten into Hannah's music much before this song dropped; I'd heard her other music, but it didn't stick with me like 'Witness' did. This song hit every mark in my head when thinking about what makes a good song, good. It is rock, indie, soulful, and so many other genres. I wasn't expecting such a soulful track to come into my library. She's explained that she wrote this song years ago, but never produced it until recently. Kiszka helped her in the studio while he was working on his own music with his brothers Jake and Josh, and their best friend Danny Wagner; producing and recording their fourth album Starcatcher which is also now out on all streaming platforms as well. Hannah's music is now something I will say that I have added to my music library and will be continuing to listen to. I can't wait for the album to be released and to hear more of the songs from this person. With that being said! Hannah is also known to paint for her songs or albums. The painting behind her, (shown in the photo above), is for her new album The Prize. She's got such a symbolic style and it's so refreshing to hear female voices in the modern soulful rock. She's got a big career ahead of her, I can feel it. She will be touring with Greta Van Fleet during their European leg of the Starcatcher World Tour, however, she does have other performances coming up. You can check out her tour dates here!
