Maneskin Releases Heart-Tugging Single THE LONELIEST

On Friday, October 7, the Italian Rock stars released their single, "THE LONELIEST."
The group made themselves known in 2017 after winning second place on The X factor, where they covered English songs such as "Somebody Told Me” by The Killers and one original song, "Chosen." The same song was released as their first single, included in their first EP, and jump-started their international career. Later, they made appearances as guests on shows such as Saturday Night Live. and won the best alternative category for "I Wanna Be Your Slave" at the MTV video music awards. As they continue to thrive in 2022, they announced a world tour in North America starting at the end of the year.
"THE LONELIEST" is recognized as the most intimate and emotional song they have released. The single has heart-wrenching lyrics such as "you'll be the saddest part of me, A part of me that will never be mine, It's obvious, Tonight is gonna be the loneliest." The lyrics create a perfect song for those that have experienced the pain and grief of missing a loved one.
The music video features Maneskin attending a gothic funeral, with mourners in attendance. As the weather stirs into a storm, frontman Damiano David coughs up a note of his eulogy speech and proceeds to scream into the rain-soaked abyss.
The band does a phenomenal job instrumentally throughout the whole song, not to mention the jaw-dropping guitar solo at the end. The song reminds me of other grunge bands, like Pearl jam and Nirvana. The single gives off a very nostalgic angsty touch of the 90s and early 2000s rock. "THE LONELIEST” also oddly feels cinematic, with lyrics like “the only thing I know now is that I want to spend it with you” which gives it a cliche rom-com vibe. It’s romantic yet sucks you into a mood that makes you think about everyone you love.
The band confirmed their new LP release, Rush, will be released on January 20, 2023. Rush is now available for pre-order.
We look forward to seeing them on the upcoming tour!
