Marissa Mansion is a rising young American singer, songwriter, and producer originally from New Orleans. She began writing music when she was young and then moved to Nashville, Tennessee, where she studied music production. In the fall of 2020, she began uploading short acoustic covers on the popular social media platform TikTok, with her most watched being 'Hate Me If It Helps’ by Alexander 23. This year, she overcame her doubts and fears, teasing fans with photo inspiration for the single, then finally announcing her first single on January 29th. After loyal fans long anticipated the release, rising pop artist Marissa Mansion reminisces in her latest single, 'LOVER’.

Marissa’s voice and music style reminds me of pop artists Gracie Abrams and Lizzy McAlpine. She is soft-spoken and produces a peaceful, comforting sound that compels listeners to crave more. The single, with a gentle piano and a jovial drumbeat, has a peaceful and nostalgic impression.

Lyrically, the single is reminiscent of the past. Reliving the memories of happy times spent with a lover. Marissa expresses this in the opening verse, "Could you take me back? Could you be my art like you were way back in the summer." Although the lyrics are wistfully wishing to go back to a time when they were happy, Marissa conveys the message in a hopeful and positive way. Marissa describes her inspiration for the song, ”This single was inspired by a picture I had in my head of summer and sitting alongside a past love.” The cover art for the single is a flawless embodiment of the feeling of summer with bright greenery, summer clouds, and bloomed yellow flowers.

Marissa hopes to inspire women to produce their own music and to "Take charge in the production realm.” 'LOVER’ is completely women-made. It's a collaboration with her close friend, Inez Lopez.

‘LOVER’ is a beautifully crafted single. I hope to hear more of her production, writing, and vocals soon!
