Thrash Metal Legends Artillery Rock Out In Spartanburg, SC

Words edited by Iceis Augustino

Danish thrash metal band Artillery brings their 40th-anniversary tour to Spartanburg SC, bringing with them their friends in Vapor and Potential Threat SF

The night kicked off with some local bands, Cronic Disorder and NeverFall. One of my favorite things about metal and rock shows is their huge support of the local scene. You never know what newfound obsession you’ll find when the local bands come out to open up. Both bands did an incredible job of revving the crowd up to get ready for the main bill bands. The energy was kicked off right with these local bands tonight.

Potential Threat SF

Potential Threat SF, a thrash metal band from San Francisco that is no stranger to rocking out on a stage, was the third band for the night and the first band for the main bill. The band has an intense, in-your-face presence while on stage. The engagement with the fans is a staple of what made their set so incredible to witness. They have fun on stage, and it shows throughout their whole set. No matter who is in the audience, the band makes you feel like you’ve been a fan for life.

Vapor

Next up for the night was Vapor. With their mix of thrash and death metal, Vapor had everyone rocking out until the very last note played. Their energy on stage was explosive in the best way possible and captivated the attention of every person there. Nate Klug, the lead vocalist and guitarist, had that belligerence metal attitude that the crowd could not get enough of. Between his guttural voice and intense stage presence, there was not a single person who was not hooked from the second the band stepped on stage. The speed in their music keeps you locked in, and their unity as a band makes for a seamless and enjoyable set you’ll never want to miss.

Artillery

The moment that everyone was waiting for was finally here as Artillery took the stage. From the very start of the set, you can feel the blistering style of the band, and the enthusiasm from the members extends to the fans for a nonstop live performance that is filled with such passion. There is no doubt that Artillery truly loves and enjoys what they do. And you can tell by the way they not only rock out hard, they also engage with the crowd and each other in a joking and playful manner that makes you feel like you are just hanging out with some old friends and not watching a thrash metal band. Artillery shows time and time again why they are not only a staple in the thrash metal genre but that they are still a huge part of the thrash metal scene and always will be! There are still several dates left on this tour, so if you want to experience this immaculate show filled with outstanding bands and some brutal metal music, catch one of the shows left on this tour.
